It’s hard to believe that the first Air Jordan’s actually hit North America before the original Nintendo Entertainment System. Since that 1984 debut, both brands have become such a ubiquitous part of our culture it’s difficult to imagine a time when they didn’t exist. Now the two of them have come together in what might be the most attractive pair of nerd sneakers we’ve seen.

The Air Jordan 4 “Super Nintendo” Customs are a limited edition by the folks at Freaker Sneaks. They combine the design features of the Japanese and European model of the Super Nintendo with a pair of Jordan 4’s and the detailing is nice and geeky. Here’s what that SNES looked like:

As you can see, it’s a little different that the Super NES that was released in North America, which explains the lack of purple on these kicks. The all grey design might turn some people off but they’re missing out. Look at the back of these things:

Those are real controller buttons and a d-pad. They can be pressed and you know some DIY joker out there is going to find a way to plug these into a console.

Unfortunately, they’ll be limited. The Freaker Sneaks site doesn’t say how limited but Nice Kicks says there will only be 10 pairs and doesn’t set a price. Still, the lucky owners will have some Jordans that few others do and maybe if there’s enough interest, Freaker Sneaks will make another edition.
