Al D’Amato holds the distinction of being the last Republican to serve as Senator of New York. That was back in 1999 and it looks like ol’ Al’s still got some fight in him. The 79-year-old was caught on video Monday night as he was kicked off a JetBlue flight and attempted to mount a passenger revolt.

According to the New York Post, D’Amato was on a flight to Ft. Lauderdale at JFK airport when the crew asked passengers who’d paid for extra legroom to move because of weight and balance issues. When the passengers didn’t want to move, it was time for D’Amato—fresh from the wine bar—to step in. Here was a moment when his old trusty campaigning skills might come in handy. The Post reports:

D’Amato, who was sitting toward the back of the plane — in a seat with sparse legroom — began chanting “make them move,” which a smattering of fellow passengers took up, and marched up and down the aisle.

The outburst prompted the crew to ask D’Amato to leave. When he didn’t, the Broward County Sheriff’s Office was called in.

The flight had already been delayed 6 1/2 hours and this was some bullshit. In fact, when D’Amato is being escorted out in the videos below, you can clearly hear one passenger say, “bullshit.”

The former senator may have lost the battle but he may have won the war. He got in a few words for the world as he lead out by police “We can still speak in this country, and what you’re doing to me… I make an appeal to all you people,” he said. “Stand up for what’s right, and walk out with me. If you don’t, then what do you stand up for?” TWO whole people walked with him. And I’m sure they regretted that decision 10 minutes later as the sat at the wine bar with Al, waiting for the next flight.
